Elsies Breath

Welcome

Perched on Elsies Peak in Glencairn Heights, overlooking False Bay and the charming historic Simonstown, Elsies Breath borders a section of the Table Mountain National Park.  Around the property you will be delighted with sightings of Cape Grey buck, porcupines, owls, eagles, mongoose, and incredible rare birds.

Elsies Breath is a homely, bright one-bedroomed apartment which is stocked with everything to make your stay comfortable.   The living area is an open-plan with a fully equipped kitchen.  There is one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom boasting a shower over a three-quarter bathtub. Exiting through the large glass doors which open onto the giant-sized deck, relax gazing at the unbeatable view over False Bay while watching the beachgoers, surfers, and the antics of Simonstown’s sailboats and navy frigates.

Guests’ privacy is assured. Even though there is another apartment below, it will never be occupied when guests are staying at Elsies Breath.  You would be the only occupants, with your host living in a house on the neighbouring property ready to address any queries and needs.

Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and the South Peninsula is one of its crowning jewels. Elsies Breath in Glencairn Heights is centrally located in this mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. The area is the flagship when it comes to views, hiking, beach, whale watching, and diving activities.  It’s a short drive to experience the restaurants and entertainment of Kalk Bay, the penguins of Simonstown, the pristine unspoiled Cape Point Nature Reserve, golf in Clovelly, the horse-riding on Noordhoek beach, and much more.

PLEASE BE AWARE: Elsies Breath is not suitable for the infirm as there are quite a few steps to climb.

Without even having to leave the Glencairn Valley:

ELSIES PEAK HIKING TRAILS – A short walk from Elsies Breath takes you to the renowned hiking routes of Elsies Peak.  There are many trails to choose from, from a little evening stroll to a 2 hour hike. Whichever route you choose, you will be spoilt with endless views, incredible birdlife and unique fynbos flora. Elsies Peak is easy to master and does not require hikers to be particularly fit.

GLENCAIRN BEACH AND TIDAL POOL – Even though it is in walking distance from Elsies Breath, it is preferable to take the car down to the beach, as the walk back up the hill after your swim will ruin that fresh feeling.   Glencairn Beach is very pretty and enjoyed by families, surfers, snorkelers and dog walkers.

GLENCAIRN WETLANDS – In the valley there is a small conservation area with comfortable walkways and boardwalks.  Stroll through and see the incredible plant and animal life (mostly very interesting bird-species).

THE GLENCAIRN STRIP – A popular social meeting area for locals and visitors to congregate. There are little shops, a Yoga center, a Surf shop, a pub and some restaurants all which overlook the wetlands and the beach.

THE SHOPPING CENTER – At the entrance to Glencairn Heights is a convenient local shopping center.  Handily there is a supermarket (Spar), liquor store, laundry, petrol station and other amenities. (There are large shopping centres within a 4km drive out of the valley for everything else)
